And Justice for All remains one of Lakich’s most important and favorite sculpture commissions. Commissioned by The Koll Company and Ace Parking for the Columbia Square building in downtown San Diego, the sculpture was installed in the lobby and remained there until the building was sold in 2000. The new owners moved it to the Toyota building in Torrance, California and Lakich refurbished it before installing it there.
The three fiqures which were created for an office building primarily occupied by lawyers, signify different aspects of justice. The figure on the right has its hands over its head in a pose simulating surrender. The figure in the middle can be seen to be saying “Oh, my god” as if a transgression had occurred. And the figure on the left seems to be making a getaway, the map of the world in the head implying perhaps, for parts unknown.
